Covad Deploys IP Unity Glenayre MereonĀ® Unified Messaging Platform

Provides Covad Customers with the Benefits of a Business-class, Customizable, Integrated Voicemail and Email Solution

NXTCOMM Chicago, Ill — June 19, 2007— Covad Communications Group, Inc. (AMEX:DVW), a leading national provider of integrated voice and data communications, announced today at the 2007 NXTComm expo that it has deployed the Mereon Unified Messaging platform from IP Unity Glenayre, Inc., a new leader in delivering carrier-grade messaging and multimedia solutions over IP, TDM and enterprise networks. Covad is using the feature-rich Mereon Unified Messaging solution to enhance the value proposition of its award-winning Covad ClearEdge Voice Services by allowing users to manage all their messages – voice, fax or email – from a single mailbox.

“We selected IP Unity Glenayre because its powerful IP-based Unified Messaging Platform complements our industry-leading voice services and delivers the performance and value our business customers demand,” said Mahendra Soneji, Vice President of Product Management for Covad. “This enhanced solution provides our customers with customizable, easy-to-use features such as auto-attendant, single number for voice and fax, and enhanced support for distribution lists and greetings.”

As the market leader in hosted VoIP for businesses*, with more than 50,000 seats in service, Covad is continually looking for ways to enhance its services and enable its customers to be more efficient and competitive. By choosing the Mereon Unified Messaging solution, Covad ensures that it can easily scale its voice service features to meet the needs of companies ranging from small businesses to distributed enterprises. In addition, the solution’s simplicity – customers manage and customize the enhanced features through a simple menu – complements Covad’s award-winning Dashboard self-administration tool so customers do not need to learn a new set of instructions.

“We are extremely pleased to work with Covad as it focuses on providing yet more value to its customers,” stated Keith Bhatia, Senior Vice President of the Americas for IP Unity Glenayre. “With this deployment we strive to further enhance Covad’s reputation for being easy to do business with, and for excellence in business-class voice and broadband services.”

Covad will offer the Mereon Unified Messaging solution as a standard component with its ClearEdge Pro and ClearEdge Integrated Access voice services. For more information on Covad’s full portfolio of voice and broadband services, call 1-888-GO-COVAD or visit www.covad.com.
