IP Unity Ships Service Migration Tools, Enhanced Messaging and Conferencing for Harmony6000™
Flagship media server platform raises the bar on legacy messaging integration, carrier ease-of-useMILPITAS, Calif — March 29, 2004— IP Unity, the market leader in IP service solutions for blended and converged networks, is now shipping feature release 2.7 of its Harmony6000 media server and applications to major service providers.
New capabilities of the Harmony6000 support both messaging and conferencing applications powered by the "many services, one platform" media server. Features now include the IP Unity Service Migration Tools (full migration support from legacy to all-IP messaging platforms) as well as enhanced OAM&P, security, customization and operator support functions.
"Messaging and conferencing have become anchor applications and vital revenue streams for carriers," stated IP Unity CEO and chairman Arun Sobti. "In North America alone, they represent more than 24 million subscribers on first-generation ILEC voice messaging, and over five million audio conferencing minutes per year. With this release, IP Unity enables migration of message content and features from the majority of ILEC voicemail platforms to all-IP Harmony6000 messaging solutions via our carrier-friendly, non-disruptive Service Migration Tools."
He continued, "We've also eased operations, administration, maintenance and provisioning (OAM&P) for providers deploying unified messaging. Finally, we've responded to carrier needs for easy-to-use, cost-effective deployment of operator support for all conferences."
The major new and enhanced features of Harmony6000 Release 2.7 include:
- Service Migration Tools, to merge existing carrier voicemail with IP-based voicemail and unified messaging platforms for near-transparent end-user transition
- Enhanced OAM&P and security, for CLI, SNMP, configuration and fault management
- Release of IP Unity APIs for integration of carriers' custom moderator and scheduling modules
- Full GUI-based Operator Console, to enable live support for all conferences
- Enhanced customization for fixed, variable and interactive announcements
- Expanded support for five of the world's most common non-English end-user languages
The release of the Harmony6000 Service Migration Tools and Conferencing Operator Console furthers IP Unity's commitment to help carriers evolve their legacy messaging and conferencing infrastructures to a flexible, open and cost-effective platform, while preserving the needs of their most valuable customers. IP Unity's Service Migration Tools use the latest SIP, VoiceXML 2.0 and speech recognition technologies, demonstrating the Harmony6000 media server' readiness to support these technologies in a scalable manner.
IP Unity is now shipping Harmony6000 Release 2.7 to service providers relying on the leading embedded TDM-based Central Office voicemail systems. New features will also be demonstrated at this week's Spring VON 2004 Conference and Exhibition in Santa Clara, California, booth 509.
